Tornado Recovery Assistance Update
Tornado Financial Assistance Applications Are Closed
Since the July 27 tornado, People of Progression has received $2,325,000 in community support and helped more than 270 households take important steps toward recovery. We are grateful for the generosity of donors, volunteers, and community partners who have made this assistance possible.

Nearly three months after the tornado, many families are still facing significant challenges. As recovery continues, the way assistance is provided is changing.
New Applications Are No Longer Being Accepted
With tornado relief funding nearly exhausted, People of Progression is no longer accepting new applications for tornado-specific financial assistance.
Our immediate priority is reviewing the more than 200 new applications already in process and helping as many households as possible with the remaining funds. Households with applications in process will be contacted as their requests are reviewed. Assistance is based on eligibility, documented needs, and available funding, and is not guaranteed.
We know there are families who still need help, including some who have not yet received financial assistance. We understand how difficult this news may be. We don't want families completing new applications with the expectation that funding is available when we may not be able to provide assistance.
Assistance Amount Determination
The amount of assistance is determined based on each household's circumstances, tornado impact, identified needs, other available resources, and program requirements.

Our commitment to tornado-affected families continues. While our tornado-specific financial assistance is winding down, other resources may be available to lessen burdens of basic needs. Visit our 24/7 accessible relief site maintained by-and-for community located at 332 Broad St. in Menasha (located in our plaza's back parking lot)

If you still need help, LEAVEN may be able to provide assistance through its regular emergency financial assistance program. Eligibility and available funding will determine what assistance can be provided.

Federal Disaster Assistance
FEMA Disaster Declaration Update
Following the October 7 federal disaster declaration, residents affected by the July 27 tornado and severe storms can now apply for assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
FEMA Individual Assistance is available to eligible residents of Winnebago and Outagamie counties. Assistance may help cover temporary housing, home repairs, and other disaster-related expenses not covered by insurance.

Even if you have already received assistance from People of Progression, LEAVEN, or another local organization, you are encouraged to apply for FEMA assistance.
Eligibility and the amount of assistance available will be determined through FEMA's application process. FEMA assistance is not guaranteed, but it may provide another source of help as families continue recovering from the tornado.

The recovery isn't ending. The way our community supports recovery is changing.
